OnePlus might have another winner on its hands.
AI SUMMARY
- Detailed specifications of the OnePlus Pad 2 have leaked online.
- As previously rumored, the OnePlus Pad 2 is essentially the OnePlus Pad Pro from China.
- The tablet will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and a bigger 12.1-inch LCD panel.
While the OnePlus Pad remains one of the best Android tablets on the market, we have been eagerly awaiting its successor, the OnePlus Pad 2. Earlier this week, OnePlus announced that the new tablet will be launched on July 16th, and now we know what to expect.
Well-known whistleblower Ishan Agarwal has revealed the detailed specifications of the OnePlus Pad 2 on X/Twitter. According to Agarwal, the global version of the OnePlus Pad 2 will essentially be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Pad Pro that was recently launched in China. Here's what we can expect from the OnePlus Pad 2:
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
- Display size: 12.1-inch (3000 x 2120 pixels)
- Display technology: 144Hz IPS LCD with Dolby Vision & 900-nits peak brightness
- Memory & Storage: 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB options
- Audio: 6 speakers
- Battery: 9,510mAh with 67W SUPERVOOC charging
- Cameras: 13MP main camera, 8MP front camera
The big news is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a big jump over the MediaTek Dimensity chip in the original OnePlus Pad. OnePlus has already called the tablet "the most powerful Android tablet," and as of now, this claim holds true, as there are no other Android tablets with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
The OnePlus Pad 2 looks almost identical to the original. It has the same battery capacity, charging speed, and camera configuration. The screen size appears to have increased from 11.6 inches to 12.1 inches, likely achieved by reducing the bezel size.
The display, however, reportedly remains an IPS LCD, although an OLED upgrade is expected. Still, the LCD panel on the OnePlus Pad has been praised for its quality, and the Pad 2 is likely to offer a similar visual experience.
While details on US pricing and availability have yet to be confirmed, the OnePlus Pad 2 is expected to be available in the US shortly after the global launch. The original OnePlus Pad debuted at just under $500, so it makes sense to expect a similar price for its successor.
Agarwal said that in addition to the OnePlus Pad 2 in India, OnePlus has also launched the OnePlus Stylo 2 Pen, Smart Keyboard, and Folio Case, and all of these accessories should be available in the US.
Several other products, including the OnePlus Nord 4, Nord Buds 3 Pro, and Watch 2R, will be announced at the OnePlus Summer Launch Event on July 16. It remains to be seen which of these will be released in the US, but hopefully we'll get them all.
