The OnePlus Pad 2 may have just been revealed with new images that offer consumers a possible first look at the tablet's design. OnePlus recently launched the OnePlus Pad Pro in China and the company posted about it on its official social media account Weibo. It is believed that the images of the OnePlus Pad Pro could also be the OnePlus Pad 2. There is a chance that the global/US release will be named "OnePlus Pad 2" although OnePlus has not confirmed this.
While details are scarce, OnePlus has mentioned some key points that could indicate that this is the OnePlus Pad 2. For example, OnePlus claims in a Weibo post that the OnePlus Pad Pro will be the "most powerful Android tablet".
This may indicate that the OnePlus Pad Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform, which is currently the most powerful mobile chipset on the market. The original OnePlus Pad was equipped with MediaTek's Dimensity 9000 chipset. Therefore, the most important point is that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 shows a noticeable improvement over the Dimensity 9000, so the OnePlus Pad Pro can definitely be called the "most powerful Android tablet".
The image of the OnePlus Pad 2 shows a similar design to the older tablet, but slightly different
At least in terms of design, it is difficult to tell if this is actually the OnePlus Pad 2. The OnePlus Pad Pro and OnePlus Pad in the photo look basically the same, just with a slightly different style. There is still a large round camera sensor in the center of the top edge on the back. However, based on the images shared by OnePlus, there are two big differences in the design.
Though it's subtle, the OnePlus Pad Pro appears to have a different finish than the OnePlus Pad. The OnePlus Pad has a brushed metal finish on the back and is available in a color called Halo Green. The OnePlus Pad Pro doesn't seem to have the brushed metal finish at all. Instead, the finish looks almost matte. Another key difference is the color. It's also available in green, but it doesn't appear to be the same green as the Halo Green option on the OnePlus Pad. The OnePlus Pad Pro also comes in new dark gray or black options.
There were already rumors that OnePlus would use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
In mid-April, rumors surfaced that the OnePlus Pad 2 would come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform. This detail has yet to be confirmed. But there are already rumors about a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and OnePlus has described the OnePlus Pad Pro as the most powerful Android tablet, raising suspicions that it could be a proprietary named OnePlus Pad 2 just for the Chinese market.
In addition to those details, the image from OnePlus also shows a keyboard accessory and a stylus pen. OnePlus already offers a magnetic keyboard for the old tablet, but as Android Authority points this keyboard attachment looks newer. The stylus is also a new accessory as OnePlus doesn’t currently offer this in the store.
