Apple's Pro iPhones are getting bigger this year. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be taller and wider than their respective predecessors. The new models offer significantly more screen real estate (0.2 inches larger) along with narrower bezels. A new leak gives us a clear look at the dimensions, screen size, and bezel width.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max Nearly Frameless, Dimensions Leaked
Apple is increasing the screen size of its Pro iPhones for the first time in years. The iPhone 16 Pro will grow in size from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max will grow in size from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. To accommodate the larger screen, the company has enlarged the entire device. However, the frame width has also narrowed. Recently leaked unofficial renders show a nearly frameless front design for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Some well-known tipsters have recently published dimensions detailing the numerical changes. The iPhone 16 Pro is said to measure 149.6 x 71.45 x 8.25mm and weigh 194 grams. The current Pro measures 146.6 x 70.6 x 8.25mm and weighs 187 grams. As you can see, the new model is slightly different in width and height, but the thickness is the same. There has also been a slight increase in weight due to the larger footprint.

The same goes for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The height will increase from 159.9 mm to 163.02 mm, the width from 76.7 mm to 77.58 mm, and the thickness from 8.25 mm to 8.25 mm. The new model weighs 225 grams, which is heavier than the previous model's 221 grams. However, these may not be the most interesting changes in the upcoming Pro smartphone. As long as you can see the fuzz ball on top, you'll like the front design.

According to the tipster, Apple plans to reduce the frame width of the iPhone 16 Pro from 1.71 mm to just 1.2 mm. The Pro Max sees bezels shrink from 1.55 mm to 1.15 mm. It has a nearly borderless, symmetrical front design. Including a thin frame that's just 1 mm thick, the sides of the screen are just 2.15 mm wide. For comparison: Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra has an edge thickness of 1.55 mm, but an overall width of 3.38 mm.

New Technology Helps Apple Reduce Borders
Apple is reportedly using a new technology called Border Reduction Structure (BRS) for this year's Pro iPhones. This allows the company to "compactly and efficiently place the circuitry underneath the display," reducing the bezels. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to have the thinnest bezels of any smartphone in the world. It remains to be seen how Samsung will respond to this with the Galaxy S25 Ultra next year.
