The latest Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim rumor

For the first time in the five-year history of the Galaxy Fold family, Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch a "slim" version of its book-style foldable phone by the end of 2024. However, before you get too excited, you might want to take note of a brand new rumor hitting social media.

This comes from one of the most abundant and reliable sources of inside information on unreleased Galaxy products in recent years, and together with details allegedly revealed about a month ago by an equally reliable X-leaker, it paints an interesting but somewhat cloudy picture. Will Samsung sell the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim exclusively in China?

Unfortunately, at this point, this is a very real possibility, but it's obviously not set in stone. What seems almost certain is that Samsung will launch a device called the W25 in the world's largest smartphone market in October. The device will feature a lighter and thinner body and more screen real estate than the "standard" Galaxy Z Fold 6. Surprisingly, there's no support for the S Pen.

Just to be clear, this name isn't as random as it may sound to those in the Western Hemisphere: It's closely related to the W24 label applied last fall to a China-exclusive special edition of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 that came with 1TB of storage and ultra-high-quality ceramic construction.

So while the Samsung W25 will probably never be sold outside the world's most populous country, we definitely continue to expect the phone to (eventually) launch in other regions under the name Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim.

For now, all the specs of the W25/Z Fold 6 Slim are still secret, but it was recently reported that the "regular" Z Fold 6 is 12.1mm thick when folded and 5.6mm thick when unfolded, so it's a drop. It's hard not to drool when you think of an even thinner foldable powerhouse with a 7.6-inch main display.

Even without the stylus feature, this seems like a strong contender for the title of the best folding smartphone you can buy in 2024. It will likely be smaller than the OnePlus Open and Google Pixel Fold in terms of screen size and product thickness, and could compete with the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro with its gigantic 8.03-inch main display and 5.2mm wasp tail.
What's wrong with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra and Z Fold 6 FE?

Since it still seems highly unlikely that Samsung will add four more members to the Galaxy Z Fold family in the coming months, it's natural to wonder whether this slimmer version, and the FE model that has been rumored several times recently, are actually one and the same.

That's why Ice Universe has tackled this theory head-on and explicitly refuted it, emphasizing that the W25 "has a titanium frame" and that this is what we can expect from the Z Fold 6. This suggests that a possible Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE (or Z Fold FE) will feature a slightly lower-quality aluminum frame, similar to the Z Fold 5.

The Z Fold 6 Ultra, on the other hand, will almost certainly feature cutting-edge titanium construction... unless it does in fact exist and Samsung decides to discontinue this particular model before its debut. Unfortunately, both the Ultra and FE versions of the company's next large (mainstream) foldable device will likely launch in limited quantities in one or two Asian markets, which could anger many die-hard Galaxy fans in many Western countries.
