It seems Samsung's upcoming foldables are getting a boxy makeover.

AI SUMMARY

  •  Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are set for a redesign, adopting a boxy design similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
  •  The upcoming foldables are expected to run on the latest OneUI 6.1 with AI features like live translator, Circle to Search, and more.
  •  Both phones will likely run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset globally, with upgraded camera features expected.

If the rumors are true, Samsung's 2024 foldable flagships, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, will arrive in just over a month. The new foldable devices are expected to be unveiled at the Paris Unpacked event on July 10. Numerous leaks have already given us a good idea of what to expect, but a new leak has confirmed almost everything about the design. The image has since been removed, but some Reddit users were quick to spot it.

As you can see from the image (see below), both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are said to be redesigned and sport a boxy design similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. While this is not a major improvement, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 still has a vertical triple camera module on the back, while the Z Flip 6 has a cover display similar to its predecessor, with a notch at the top for the dual cameras. Here's what's changed: This is coming soon, as Samsung appears to have accidentally posted marketing materials for the two foldable phones on a Kazakhstan website.

The image also mentions Galaxy AI, which is in line with Samsung's branding for its 2024 smartphones. The upcoming foldable device will run on the latest OneUI 6.1 and will offer AI features such as live translation, Circle to Search, and more. The image shows the Z Fold 6 in a silver colour, which is in line with rumors that the device will feature a grade 2 titanium frame, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which also comes in titanium grey. The image also shows the Z Flip 6 in a previously rumoured light blue colour option.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is expected to feature a boxier design as well as a wider cover display compared to its predecessor. While not as wide as the cover screens on the OnePlus Open and Google Pixel Fold, it still makes the outer display easier to use. This is especially important since the Z Fold 6's boxy design may make it difficult to use one-handed.

The inside of both foldable devices is expected to feature a less noticeable crease, something users have been hoping for since the original Galaxy Z Fold. Both phones will likely run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset worldwide, with Samsung not planning to use Exynos processors on either device. Additionally, the smaller Z Flip 6 is likely to feature an improved 50MP rear camera for better photography.
